Identity and Access Management (IAM)

My Background in Identity and Access Management

While at Identity Methods, who specialised in IAM projects, I was fortunate enough to be asked to work as the BA at an emerging mobile only “challenger” bank in the City of London. We suggested they should use Ping Identity as it would provide both the easiest to integrate into their chosen other banking applications yet provide the most robust and frictionless customer journey.

I worked closely with bank’s program manager and chief architect as well as our two developers to develop and integrate the IAM system into the bank’s back end systems, with many meetings and “show and tell” sessions. Registration, use of brokers and the banks facilities was to be as intuitive and “frictionless” for the customer as possible. I decided to use some of the ideas I’d picked up from a previous project with a South American chain of banks, department stores and DIY shops, which employed Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). The journey should be intuitive and have as few “forms” and clicks as possible. At the same time security had to be very strong and protect the bank and customers at all costs while not impeding the journey. By both understanding the bank’s needs and overarching regulations we were able to provide a best in class banking application for this “challenger” bank.
